NEW ZEALAND MAIL.

SPECIAL PICTORIAL SUPPLEMENT. The "New Zealand Mail," which is issued to-day contains a special pictorial supplement dealing with the death of Pope Leo XIII. The letterpress surrounding the numerous illustrations of the late Pontiff contains a sketch of his career and special articles treating of the Pope’s long and illustrious life. There is uo doubt that this pictorial supplement will be much appreciated by the readers of tho "New Zealand Mail.” Tho new- Anglican Church at Potone affords scope for a full page'of illustrations from the camera of Mr Baroham, Potone; and a fine portrait of the clergyman, the Rev J. D. Russell, also appears.

The Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting last week is capitally illustrated; and a group of tho members of the New Zealand Racing Conference is published, together with the names of the delegates. Hockey players will be pleased with the reproductions of the North Island representative team, and the Wellington Ladies’ Hockey team—the Kiwis. Wanganui residents will find much to interest them in this week’s "Mail.” Splendid pictures are published of the Museum, the Girls' College, tho Opera House, the Post Office, the shipping m port, the Borough Council chambers, and the recent fire. These views are from tho camera of Messrs Newham and Brady, and are well reproduced. The "Mail” also publishes half-a-dozen beautiful Wanganui rivor scenes.

There is a group of railway employees at Napier, also of the Ancient Order of Foresters, together with a page of eminent actors, etc., etc.

Tho letterpress of this rapidly-develop-ing weekly is up to its standard. . A now serial is begun in this week's issue, entitled “A City of Mystery," by Mr Archibald Clavoring Gunter, the author of ‘‘Mr Barnes of New York.” Its social, theatrical, literary, dairying, poultry, and farm and station intelligence is altogether reliable and up-to-date. The "Mail” is a first-rate magazine of fiction and news suitable for the Ironies of tho people.
