DESTRUCTION OF STORES.
ARMY SUPPLIES BURNED. LONDON, April 27. The Pretoria correspondent of the ‘Morning Post” states that £120,000 worth ol condemned army stores have been burned on the veldt. A town official and others who were present declared that at least two-thirds of the quantity was absolutely sound. Twelve thousand-oases of tinned meats of good brand, dated April, 1902, were stacked 12ft high and destroyed. MELBOURNE, April 28. Letters received by merchants from South Africa state that tho sale of surplus array stores disturbs tho market, and that a large amount of fraud is carried on between sellers and buyers. It is alleged that stocks of oats and hay have been sold to those “in the know,” inside which wore concealed quantities of spirits or other more valuable articles.
