CITY CAB FARES.

PROPOSED ALTERATIONS,

The By-laws, Fire Brigade and Lighting Committee of tho City Council last Tight submitted tho following proposals regarding cab faxes for the consideration of trie Council Tho city should bo divided into three districts, as under: No. I—Bounded1 —Bounded by Tinakori road, Glonborvio road, Sydney street, . Museum street, Mowbray street, Bowen street, Lambton quay, Boulcott street fo its junction with Plimmer’s steps, Willis street to Ghuznoo street, east side ot Woclcombo street, Abel Smith street, Taranaki street. Buckle street, nont terrace, and tho sea. No. 2—All that part or the city south of Bucklo street and north of Hall street. No. 3 —All that part of the city south of a line drawn along Hal 1 and Mein streets. iTho fares should ho in. the different districts:—No. 1, first passenger, Is, additional 6d each; No. 2, first passenger 2s, additional Gd each; No. 3, first passenger 3s, additional Cs 'each. Double faros for the first passenger only between the hours of 8.30 p.m. and 6 a.m. Oriental Bay—First passenger Is Gd, additional passengers Gd each; double faro as before.

No. 1 district comprises practically the whole of the city north of the Basin Reserve, with tho exception of tho terraces and Oriental Bay. No. 2 is bounded by Hall street, and No. 3 by the city boundary. Additional fares.—Wellington terrace, Woolcombo street, and west of both; Grant road, Aro street, Nairn street, Thompson street, and that part of the city lying oast of Roxburgh and Hawker streets —per passenger Gd. An extra charge of Gd should ho paid for vehicles jiassing on ‘to tho wharf; this charge to cover one or more passengers. s ;

Fares outside the. city should be by time only, as at present. To and from Wellington and uatii railway station.—No. 1 district, first passenger, day Is fid, night 3s; No. 2 district, first passenger, day 2s fid, night ss; No. 3 district, first passenger, day 3s fid, night 7s. Additional passengers, sixpence each. Oriental Bay', sixpence extra for first passenger. The recommendations will ho considered at next meeting of the Council. Meanwhile copies will ho furnisher to all oab proprietors for their consideration.
