AN OLD MAN BURNED TO DEATH. nasss ASSOCIATION. WANGANUI, November AO. At four o’clock this morning a firo occurred in a six-roomed iiouse at Aramolio. Tho house was totally destroyed, and tho occupier, Mr John Walker, was burned to death. Deceased, who was eighty-throa years of age, was well-known, and was ono of tho oldest settlers. The house was insured for .-£l5O in tho Commercial Union and the furniture for £75 in tho same office. DUNEDIN, November 30. A six-roomed houso iu Union street, occupied by Air Thomas Blair, and owned by Airs Chalmers, of Roslyn, was gutted by firo last night. The furniture and effects, valued at £l5O, wero not insured. The insurance on tho house is not known. An adjoining nine-roomed houso, insured foi- £6OO in the Royal Exchange, was damaged. A little before midnight a fire broke out in Lenin’s fish-sbop adjoining Comrio. grocor. Great Fling street. Both places were,:damaged. Lewin’s insurance is not known. E. Holmes is the owner.
