The result of the licensing poll here was officially announced yesterday as being in favour of reduction by seven votes, but to-day tho result has been challenged, and there is to bo a recount of votes. DUNEDIN, November 29. Prohibition was carried at Mat-aura by 44 votes. There is likely lo be litigation as to alleged informalities at the poll. DUNEDIN, November 30. After the recount of votes it was officially notified on Saturday that prohibition lied been carried in the Bruce electorate by eleven votes. Prohibition will thus prevail after 30th June next, over a stretch of country from Invercargill to Henley.. ASHBURTON. November 29. Tho official declaration of the poll shows that prohibition was carried by three-fifths and 101 to spare. An attempt is expected to be maxie to upset the olc-ction, on the grounds of illegal erasure from the roll, voting by minors, plural voting and impersonation. INVERCARGILL. November 29. Tbe prohibitionists, have applied for a recount of the Invercargill poll. Tho official declaration of the Awarua poll has not yet been made.
