THE BAKERS’ DISPUTE.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CONCILIATION HOARD. Tho recommendations ef the Wellington Conciliation Doard in tho bakers' dispute were announced yesterday by the Itov. J. Crowes, chairman. The recommendations are to the following effect: —l. That nine hours shall consulate a day’s labour, including hab-un-hour for breakfast, and one hour icr sponging. 2. That no workman to commence work before 4 o'clock, except on Saturdays, when work may bo commenced at 3 a.m.; the rates for overtime to be—For the first two hours, time and a quarter, and after that, lime and a half, while all overtime between 5.30 p.m. and starting time in tne morning shall bo paid few at the rate of time and a-haif. 3. That tho rate of wages shall be—Foreman, not loss Mian £3 5s per week, with thirteen loaves oi broad; second hand, £2 15s and thirteen loaves; and any other man, £2 10s and thirteen loaves. 4 That clause 3 of tho demands shall bo nullified. (This clause demanded that where an employer takes charge, ho should take equal share with his workmen in tho sponging, and that where a journeyman had to come back more than throe evenings a week for sponging he should bo paid 2s an hour.) G. That Sunday sponging shall cover all statutory holidays, line! that fur other work on a Sunday or holiday tho journeyman shall bo paid— Per Sunday, Christina,-', Day, or Goo.. Friday, double time; for ether holidays time and a-half. 7. That one hour shall bo allowed for sponging, and that if thoro is no sponge and the journeyman is required to make dough, ho shall be allowed an hour and a half. 8. That ono apprentice shall bo allowed for ono journeyman, and two apprentices tor three journeymen; but that not more than two apprentices shall bo allowed to any employer. 9. That wages should ne paid weekly, or fortnightly in any place whero there is no hank. Preference is granted to unionists on tho usual conditions, and thoro is the customary provision for tho employment cf aged and infirm workers. It is recommended that this settlement should; last for two years, beginning on the 10th of December.

Mr Crowes said that the Doard would postpone the filing of tho recommendations until December Bth. so as to give both parties an opportunity cf considering the matter.
