The senior championship game between Midland and Phoenix was completed at the Basin -Reserve on Friday evening, the Midland team winning the game by 172 runs. Phoenix, with four wickets down for H 8 runs, resumed batting, h(ut the tail of the team failed miserably, and the innings closed for 145 runs. Halley (55) and Lash (43) wore the top scorers for Phoenix, the wickots being equally divided amongst tho Midland bowlers. There were 149 runs recorded at the fall of tho fifth wicket, but the remaining batsmen went for fivo runs. Owing to the departure of Barclay to Auckland, the Phoenix team batted only nine vnen._ In the junior cup game between Wellington and Midland, tho Wellington team, requiring ten runs to win, and having seven wickets down, made the runs without any further loss.
