As regards the announcement made in that connection, I have to state, in order to obviate possible misapprehension, that the recognition conferred on me 'was assuredly not of my seeking, neither directly nor indirectly: that I am thus not in any way responsible for the Club’s choice, was not aware of it. nor that it wm eren in contemplation, until made public by the local press.
