(From Our Own Correspondent). Friday. The annual meeting of the Dalefield Co-operative Dairy Company was held yesterday afternoon, when there was a large attendance of shareholders. The chairman. Mr A. W. Gallon, in moving the adoption of the report and balancesheet—a summary of which lias already appeared in the columns of the "Times" —referred at some length to the satisfactory season just passed, when the suppliers of the company, which has the largest factory in the district, divided ,£13,004 Us 7d. besides reserving .£6O 19s 3d for the payment of a six per cent, dividend upon subscribed capital. (Jliere were 67 milk suppliers, the average payment to each supplier being JEI94. Mr Gallon also made reference to tbe fact that tho suppliers of the factory had received more than id per gallon for fteir milk. -It was mentioned that'the Dalefield Factory' had taken the highest prices on the market. Mr James Steyens. who seconded the motion, said that although at present New Zealand cheese could stand against tho world, the time would arrive when there would be keen Competition from the Argentine and Russia. Therefore: care should be taken that onlj' first-class cheese’be placed upon the London market and to supply a first-class article, suppliers must furnish good milk. In a further discussion it was shown that after paying all expenses, tho cheese realised between £4i and .£45 per ton. At a subsequent meeting, Mr Knutson was re-elected a director, and Mr A. Gallon, chairman of directors. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Wairarapa Pastoral Society, this afternoon at Greytown some fortyapplications were Considered from various parts of the colony for the position of secretary to the society at a salary of .£l5O per year. It was resolved to leave the matter in the hands of a sub-committee, Messrs Bidwlll, G. Tully. W. C. Buchanan, A. Gallon, Anderson, H. Morisos, and another, who will recommend the person it considers most suitable to a general meeting of the committee to he held a fortnight hence.
