POULTRY SOCIETY.

TWENTIETH ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of tho Wellington Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society was heid last night. There was a largo attendance, and Mr G. Frost, president of tho society, was in tho chair. Tho committee, in submitting the twentieth annual balance-sheet, congratulated tho members upon the result of the twentieth show, tho same having been a success financially and otherwise. The committee started the year with a bank overdraft of £123 13s 7d, whiqli had been considerably reduced, and now stood at £7l 12s lOd, but deducting from this amount thb outstandng accounts owing to the society, and which are all good (£lB 12s), the society’s indebtedness' to the bank was £53 Os lOd, which, taking into consideration the fact that the committee was called upon to settle liabilities in connection with the show held in July, 1901, was everything that could be expected. Tho thanks of the society are expressed to Messrs Townsend and Bristow for the valuable assistance given the society during the •ast year, also to Miss Ivey, Messrs J. J. Casey. G. Remington, W. Bailey, P. Cooper, F. Bradley, B. Blowers, j. B. Tonar and A. Walker, for their gatuitous services as judges; and to donors of cash and trophies. Great satisfaction was expressed at the valuable wotk rendered tho society by the secretary, Mr H. E. Dovey. The following new members wore elected:—W. D. James, T. Black, E. Frost.

The election of officers resulted as follows;—Patron, his Excellency tho Governor; president, his Worship the Mayor; vice-presidents, the Mayors of suburban boroughs and members of Parliament for tho city and suburbs; auditor, Mr Kember (re-elected); trustees, Messrs Bristow and Townsend (re-elect-ed) ; 'secretary, Mr H. E. Dovey (reelected! ; treasurer, Mr E. B. Bristow (re. elected); committee, Messrs D. Murphy" W. D. McKenzie. F. Cooper, T. MoLachlan, T. Fearn, F. Townsend, F. Bradlev. J. E. Thomnson, P. I)oig, E. J. Fallu, J. Currie. G. Frost. (Tho matter of affiliation with the North Island association was left to the incoming committee to consider and report to a general meeting. Notice of motion was given, “That the incoming committee consider the advisability of opening tho show at 7 p.m. instead of in tho afternoon, as at present.”
