LICENSED VICTUALLERS’ BALL.

The fifth annual ball under the auspices of the Wellington Licensed Victuallers’ Association was held at the Druids’ Hall last night.: The popularity of the fixture was attested by a .very large attendance, The arrangements were so good that one and all enjoyed themselves to the top of their bent. The ball and supper-rooms had been specially and most tastefully decorated for the occasion under the supervision of Messrs Searl and McLeod, and, when dancing was at its height, the effect of the flags and mirrors and the profusion of greenery, contrasted with the very beautiful dresses worn by the majority of the ladies, was especially fine. The floor was perfect, and the music by Minified band of the bdSt, while, as usual, the supper provided by Mr Godber was excellent to a degree. The committee responsible for the.arrangements was as follows: —Messrs E. Wilson (president), E. J. Searl (vice-president), W. (King (treasurer) and E. J:. Preston, D. J. Kennny,- A. Haywood, A. H. V. Lodder, A. M. Gow, and McLeod .(committeemen). The members of this- comraittee were very attentive to their guests, and Mr Williams, the secretary of the «sso 7 ciation, was most assiduous in supervising the arrangements, so that nothing should be overlooked or wanting. The M.G.’B were Messrs J. Dawson and McLachlan. The gathering was a success in every way and reflects the greatest credit upo» the management, and upon all those who contributed to that happy result. The licensed victuallers’ ball is now. established as one* of .the. most attractive and enjoyable events of the year. .
