MASTERTON.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) Friday. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day Joseph Howman was fined £1 and costs for refusing to leave the Mauriceville Hotel when requested to do so. Isaac Sykes and E. W. TJdy were fined each £l, and John McKay £2 and costs for exposing for sale sheep infested with lice. John Wright, who was arrested last week on a charge of stealing £l3O from the Empire Hotel, itas committed for trial, hail being allowed. Mr J. A. Renall, a candidate for the Mayoralty, who addressed the burgesses last night, announced that it was the intention of the executors of the estate of his late father to cut up property in the town into building allotments. A successful sports meeting was held at Upper Opaki yesterday. Messrs Henry and Turnbull, of the Opaki Rifle Club, who are proceeding to the Bisley meeting, left Masterton to-day. They were entertained at the Central Hotel last night. The Opaki Club has sent three men to Bisley. Henry recently put on twelve successive bull’seyes at 500 yards.
