AQUATICS’
YACHT RACES. The first handicap for first-class yachts was hold on Saturday before a stiff northerly breeze. Tho Waitangi, Rainbow and lorangi faced the starter off scratch. lorangi crossed the line 33 seconds after time, followed by Waitangi 40 seconds. Rainbow being 1 minute 7 seconds behind. Rounding Pinnacle buoy, lorangi was leading by 50 seconds from Waitangi, . Rainbow being 40 seconds behind Waitangi. On the beat np to Kero Koro buoy Rainbow made a successful tack, and rounded the buoy SO seconds in advance of Waitangi, lornngi 35 seconds behind the latter. The run homo was an exciting finish between Rainbow and Waitangi, the latter winning by the margin of one second, lorangi finishing 16 seconds after.
For the second-class event, only two started. Syren scratch, and Atalanta 3 minutes. Syren defeated Atalanta after a good race by one minute. Mr .1. B. Speed officiated as starter, and Mr W. Monckton as handicapper.
