THE SEATTLE AVOOLLEN COAI--I‘ANY. (Bv Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) Tuesday, 5.25 p.m. A meeting of the woolgrowers of the district is to be held here on Chursday night for the purpose of discussing the proposed Australian and American AA’oolleu Company. A representative of the company is in Palmerston, and will address the meeting on the benefits of co-operation, the principle object being to open a now market for sellers. At a meeting of the Borough Council last evening exception was taken 10 an endorsement on the balancc--lieet, the Auditor-General objecting lo tho expenditure of £4O 18s 4d, the cost of the Queen’s funeral drapery and tho luncheon to the Indian and Imperial troops. The Council considered the Auditor had placed a wrong construction on section 159 of the Alunicipal Corporations Act, and decided to protest against the endorsement on the balance-sheet, and to ask the Auditor to reconsider his decision, and, if possible, to withdraw his opposition. At a meeting of tho creditors of J. E. AVanklyn. hotelkeeper, of Foxton, today, tho debtor attributed his position to pressure by a AA'ellington creditor.
