PALMERSTON NORTH.

(By Telegraph.-'Own Correspondent.) Thursday, 7 p.m. The Defence Minister has approved the formation, of a senior cadet corps at Palmerston North, and members will be sworn in as soon as the corps is gazetted. The present strength of the corps is sixty, and it is intended to raiso it to 100. Land for dairying purposes still continues to command high prices- The latest sale reported is Mr T. Greenhow's farm at Bunnythorpe, at £2B per acre. A hockey match will be played on the show grounds tomorrow between the Aorangi Ladies' Club (Wellington) and Miss Fraser's Craven College team. At a meeting held at Palmerston delegates representing the furniture trade interests were present from Wanganui, Feilding, Hunterville, Palmerston, M.isterton and Napier. "After lengthy discussion it was decided to form a Furniture Traders' Association, incorporating Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, Man;? watu and Rangitikei. Mr J. H. Gilohrist (Feilding) was elected president., and the following committee was appointed:—Messrs Purser and White (Wanganui), Dariagh and Brent (Feilding), lfialcolm and Pegden (Palmer s ton), Wilson (Hunterville), Grenlinton (Woodville), Bates (Dannevirke), Newman and Spriggs (Napier).
