PBESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, August 21. At a meeting of the Council of iho Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Mr Kent, on behalf of the Finance Commit tee. reported on a federation of Chambers of Commerce. He said the last report of the committee was that the Chamber should not join the proposed company under the Act of 1882, but that all Chambers should affiliate for united action, with the head office in Wellington, the Wellington secretary to be paid an additional salary; that the president of affiliated chambers should be appointed annually and that the annual meetings should Ire held alternately in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin. •Their final report was now presented as follows:—That further consideration of the subject be left in abeyance until the annual conference of chambers, which is to be held in Wellington in January, 1902: but your, committee recommends this Chamber to pay its proportion of any expenses which may have been incurred by the Wellington Chamber for the benefit of the New Zealand Chambers of Com- ' merce generally in connection with the proposed federation.
