(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) Monday, 7.23’p.m. An inquest was held to-day on the body of the late Daniel Lea. A verdict was returned of death from failure of the heart, accelerated by pneumonia. While the inquest was being held, information was conveyed to the police that another man had been found dead. It transpired that an elderly man named Ryan, who had been in ill-health for some days, was ascending a staircase in Mrs Syverston’s boarding-house, when he fell down dead. Heart disease is supposed'to be the cause. Deceased had until lately been in the employ of Mr Bidwill, of Lower Valley. An inquest will be held. Th© Masterton Gymnasium and Physical Training School has now a member* ship of 210. Snow fell, here last night, and this morning the low lying hills were covered with snow. At a meeting of provisional directors of the Masterton Co-operative Dairy Company on Saturday, it was decided to give a guarantee to the bank for the capital necessary to erect a central factory. It was also decided to apply to the Government for plans for factories of various sizes. Arrangements have been completed with Signor Borzoni, of Dunedin, to arrange a series of entertainments here in February next in connection with the Roman Catholic Bazaar. There is a strong feeling here that money should be placed on the Estimates this session for the erection 6f a new Courthouse. The present building is _ totally inadequate for local requirements.
