PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, August 5. At the Arbitration Court to-day the Hairdressers' and Tobacconists’ Union asked for £2 10s ag a minimum wage, eight hours from 8.30 a.m. (and until 10 p.m. on Saturdays), apprentices to be one to four journeymen at wages of 5s per week and 5s increases each year to the fourth year, 10s increase the fifth year. His Honor suggested that the Court should make an award setting forth a certain number of hours of labour per day, the regulation of hours to bo left to the employers. The .fudge’s suggestion was virtually accepted, and an award will "he given before the cud of next week.
