FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
(Received August 6, 1.4 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 6In future the first Monday in August will he known as Friendly Societies' Day, and will he observed as a holiday. The societies’ annual demonstration to-day was largely attended. The Premier, in the course of a speech, promised legislation dealing with rules and strengthening the position of societies.
