FOOTBALL.

WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION. The weekly meetings of the Alanagement Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union were resumed last evening. Present Alessrs Galbraith (in the chair), Kellow, King, Laughton, Hill, -Bird, Pagni, McKenzie, Beck and Hood. Communications were received from Southland and Otago, in which the dates for matches suggested by Wellington were designated as acceptable to those unions. The ’sec. retary of the Canterbury Union also unofficially gave the Wellington secretary to understand that -his union was agreeable to the suggested date. Auckland wrote and stated that its representatives coluld not get down on the date mentioned, and suggested September 14th as a suitable date. It was resolved to meet Auckland’s wishes. In consequence of the New Zealand representative match taking Jdiic o .°n July 31st at Wellington, it was decided to invite the Hawke's Bay team to play here on July 24th. It was also decided to ask the Wairarana junior representatives to play at Wellington on July 3rd‘or 10th. The representative programme now stands:—Wellington v. Wairarapa, July 20; v. Canterbury-, August 3; v. Southland, August -7; v. Otago, August 10; v. New South Wales. August 17; New South AVales v. New Zealand, August 31; Wellington v. Auckland, September 14. Tho following dates are suggested: Wellington v. Marlborough, August 3rd or 10th; v. Hawke’s Bay, August 24; v. ■Taranaki, September 7. In addition to the above programme for senior representatives, there are three matches likely to be play-ed by the juniors. The Rangitikei Football Union wrote asking for a match 'against a Wellington junior representative team during the present year at Feilding. It was resolved to accede to the request, the ’date to be arranged later on. In connection with the "match between New South Wales and Wellington, it was decided to hand over the whole of the proceeds to the-New Zealand Rugby Union.
