ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Onslow Borough Council mot on Saturday night. There wore present the Mayor (Mr J. Holmes), Councillors C, Aplin,- H. Trout, J. Gardiner, P. Cnvnnagh, A. Neely and G. Nash. Councillor A. O’Donahoo made the proper declaration and took his seat as Councillor for North Ward. Considerable time was devoted to

hearing certain charges against the re-cently-appointed ranger and inspector. After due consideration it was resolved to warn the ranger against a repetition of the conduct complained of. It was unanimously resolved to object to the payment by the Council of l-48th part of £15,000, which had been demanded from the Council as its quota towards the cost, of erecting the proposed Hutt bridge. Councillor Trout proposed that an estimate of costs bo obtained for the extension of the area, of supply of electric lighting in the borough. It was pointed out that the Electric Lighting Syndicate wanted an agreement. It was decided to appoint a committee, with power to consult the Council’s solicitor (Mr Kirk), with a view to an agreement being drawn up and entered into with the syndicate, so as to secure an extension of the supply area for the electric lighting of the borough. It was resolved to meet at Crofton that day fortnight to inspect -the road on Major Deane’s property, with a view to effecting an exchange and the deviation of the road. It was decided to refer the question of road repairs near KhandalTah Hall to a committee. Accounts amounting to £77 were passed for payment.'
