PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Works Comitteo'of the Petone Borough Council met last night. . The engineer, in his report, said n would be necessary in the future to curtail all expenditure unless 'arrangements could be made with the hank by the Council. -Therefore!,Vie had not made any recommendation as to| new .works. Consideration of the mattep r was deferred. , : It was reported' lhat the receipts for the month were £469 13s 7d. Adbounts to the amount cf £95 10s wore foepmmended for payment. , . i ' The Recreation Ground Commitfeo recommended that the oflci of lha Waiwetu Cricket, Clulrfor the use ofj their horse-mower be hot 'entertained;; that the request of the Petone Association 'Football Club for the choice of the' two lower -football grounds be acced'ed to, and that the club be allowed to levy a charge ■ for -admission on special occasions ; that the AVellington Rugby Union be given the use of the Recreation Ground on the same terms as last year, and that the same body be offered one of the lower grounds on payment of £5 for the season.
It was decided to ask the opinion of the municipal solicitor as to whether the Council had power under the new Act to prevent advertising upon buildings by persons other than the owners of such buildings. ji It was resolved to institute proceedings against George Jones for having committed.a breach of building bylaws. ' •' , The Secretary of the Upeasury jwrote that the Colonial Treasurer had provisionally approved the Couneil’s--applica-tion for a loan of £23,500 for high-pres-sure water supply, and of £2500 for extension of drainage system. -ij
