FOOTBALL.
-.The/-annual'feporfc of the Council of the Wellington Football Association, ■which is to bo presented by the secretary (Mr 11. McKeowen) at the animal general meeting to be held in the Trocadero to-morrow evening, is of a very satisfactory nature. The number of entries for : the various champioiishipj were Senior 4, junior \ third-class .8, .fourth-class 7. Regret is expressed that suitable .and-commodious grounds could not be obtained for the fourthclass players, 'necessitating a limited number of entries being received, , for that championship. It is also said to be a matter for general regret that a number of these young players were .deprived of the' sport which they sought to enjoyy and which, in the interests of Association football,: the'Council: has a desire to’ but by circumstances inevitable- ~iti_\vas . reluctantly - compelled to refuse entries beyond a limit, ed; rmrabeV’fdr the fourth-class championship. Diamond. .Charity% Gup. Diamond. Challenge Cup, Diamond, a Jlmior Championship, Red Cross. Six-a-side tournament, Swifts. Third-class Oh'anipiohshipi/ Red Cross. Henderson- Memorial Cup-; 'Rfed Cross. Six-a-side tournament, Red Cross. Championship, ’ Pcatls. Six-a-side tournament, Wadestowii. The association- despatched an eleven to represent the city in the biennial tournament held at Auckland, b.ut the mission was unsuccessful. A match was also played with Otago at Petone, and the visitors" were defeated by 3 goals to 2. The Junior, Association despatched .an eleven to Feilding, and won by 6 goals to nil. The report concludes with votes of thanks to Mr R. H.
