Councillor A. H. Fuliford, of the AleL rose Borough Council, informs us that he intends to contest two seats in the Council at the forthcoming elections — ■one for the Mayoralty and one for the .representation of umro Ward on tno Council.
The Mayor of Wanganui has invited the citizens to hold a' meeting to consider in what planner the Rev Mr Bond’s public services to that town shall bo recognised. Mr Bond has been appointed to the charge of the Trinity Wesleyan Church, South Wellington. Ho is known locally a a “ the fighting parson,” in consequence of tho manner in which ho took part in the send-off of various contingents. The death occurred at Lovuka, Fiji, in February, of Mr Paul Hoerder, who foundeo, twenty-five years ago, and condnctecTthe business of Hoerder and Co. at Lovuka. Deceased, who had for eight years acted as German Consul iu Fiji, visited New Zealand in October last for tire sake of his health, which, however, did not improve. It is surmised that ho fell into the sea while out walk, ing, the body being round on the beach.
