BUSINESS NOTES.

The excursion steamer Duchess will run to Day’s Bay this morning ami afternoon at the usual hours. Tiie afternoon return trip from the Bay is fixed for 6 instead of 5 p.m. Messrs Macdonald, Wilson and Co. will sell to-day at 2.30 o’clock at their rooms, under instructions from Mr L. M, Harris and another vendor, a small collection of books, comprising many works by wellknown authors. Mr 11. B. Kennerley, of Molesworth street, carriage proprietor, who is giving up business, having leased his premises to the Government, has placed the sale of his plant, horses, harness, etc. in the firm’s hands for sale by auction on the 29th inst. Details are published. Mr A. T. Berry (late of Berry and Orr; has again started in business with his son at 1-1, Cuba street (next to«the Silver Gridl as up-to-date mercers.and outfitters. Judging from the elaborate display Berry and |Son are making they should do a good business.

Messrs Harcourt and Co. will sell by auction at their rooms. Lambton quay, on. Friday, 22nd inst., the desirable sevenroomed residence No. Ss, Tinukori road, on land 51ft Sin by 100 ft. The house stands back from the road, with a garden in front, and is now in excellent repair, having been thoroughly! overhauled' recently; also the beautifully-situated six-teen-roomed residence, "Tipuna/ 5 Grant road, on about three-quarters of an acre of land, tastefully laid out as garden and lawn. The house has every modern convenience, and is in excellent repair; on the same day they will sell a six-roomed dwelling close to the Hntt railway station on land 85ft frontage to Parliament street. Lower Hntt. by a. depth of 12'ft to 137 ft. This section is bounded on the north by a right-of-way. and on the west by the railway line. The house is well bum:, and in excellent repair. On 22nd April they will offer in 50-acre sections, 1800 acres of the best dairying land around Wellington, situated in Mungaroa Valley. It is within two hours of the city and half an hour from the railway station, and the terras offered arc within- the means of all classes of buyers. Full particulars can; bo obtained from the auctioneers, and plans of the subdivision will be ready in'a few nays. The share register of the "New Zealand Times” Company will bo closed for fourteen days from the 19tb inst., and will not be open for inspection during that period. The Hntt County Council notifies that after the 26th inst. 10 per cent, will bo added to all unpaid rates. Messrs Haigb and Morrab will sell stock at Otaki at 1.30 p.m. fo-efav.
