FITZGERALD BROTHERS’ CIRCUS

Those energetic circus proprietors wilTvisit Wellington with the whole of their now array of talent, gathered from all parts of the globe by "Brother Tom” during his recent seven months’ tour of thcTContinent, England and America The opening date of the six nights’ season here has been fixed for Monday next, March 25th. Matinee performances will he given, on Wednesday and Saturday, and tho "day shows” will, it is said, he in every particular the same as presented at the evening performances. Tho Messrs Fitzgeralds’ agents, six in number, are at present in town making the necessary arrangements for tlie advent of tho “greatest amusement enterprise travelling Australasia,” and everything will he in readiness by the time the combination arrives by speci-ally-chartered steamer from Lyttelton. The ground selected is the Reclaimed Land opposite tho Education Board offices, tho only ground, in fact, procurable in Wellington. A telegram received by Mr Frank Jones, tho agent of the company, was to tho cllect that the Christchurch opening was a record, A southern contemporary, referring to the circus, says : —"The re-appearance of tbe huge show last night was awaited with considerable interest by inat largo section of the public who delight to witness superb feats of horsemanship and human agility. modest one, hut now tho combination is ranked as the largest touring Australasia, and the names of Fitzgerald Bros, have become household words.” Among the newcomers are “Tho Flying Dunbars” from Barnnm and Baily’s; Mdllc. Adelina Antonio, Mdlle. Rhodesia, Mdllc. Dagmar, the Brothers Karl, Guilliumo and Aongust, in their great "bull fight,” Mdllc. Margarctta, Schracclcr, the Jandaschevskys, Mdlle. Katie Montgomery, the Cinnezellas, all' of these artists being now to the colonics. There will appear in addition, the usual equestrian favourites and the menagerie of wild and trained animals, which has been largely added to, and should prove a source of education to young and old. “The Brothers” arc always up to date in their business, and may look forward to a successful season in Wellington. Hen* Von dor Mehden still conducts the band, and Hen- Zapf looks after the training of the wild beasts. THEATRE ROYAL. A packed house greeted the performance of Dix’s Gaiety Company at the Theatre Royal last night. The bill for tho week, which is a capital one, has been further strengthened by the addition of tho Gonzales Sisters, Stella - and Nina, a couple of flexible limbed girls whose contortion act was received most favourably. Miss Nora Martin also made her first appearance. Her ballad singing made a good impression, and she received an imperative encore. The rest of the strong company was seen to advantage.

CHORAL HALL. Fuller’s Empire Vaudeville Company attracted another large audience to the Choral Hall last night, when the highly successful hill of tho previous evening was repeated. Mr Cadzow. the tenor, had another flattering reception.
