AMATEUR ATHLETICS
PKESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, March 18. The committee of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Cycle Club has decided to send E. H. Cucksey to Christchurch to represent the club in the amateur bicycle events at the League Championship. W. Reynolds also goes South to compete in the amateur events, and will, as previously, represent the Auckland Cycling Club. Messrs C. E. McCormack and P. J. Ohlson, acting on the resolution carried at the winding-up meeting of the New Zealand Cyclists’ Alliance, have purchased a handsome silver punch-bowl ' for competition among the amateur cyclists of the colony. The trophy cost 22 guineas and will be forwarded to the League of New Zealand Wheelmen at Christchurch. It will be known as the New Zealand Cyclists’ Alliance Challenge Trophy, and will bo held from year to year by the rider scoring the greatest number of wins in amateur events (annual championships) under the league.
