It has been decideiLto postpone the Winter Show, till about June 26th, the date to be definitely fixed when the movements of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are fixed. The idea is to have the show during the week their Highnesses are in Dunedin. A suggestion has been made to the Education Board by Mr J. F. M. Fraser, Crown Prosecutor, to bring into town on the occasion of the Royal visit all school children over ten years of age, billeting them under the charge of their teachers in various city and suburban schools and keeping the boys and girls in different schools. WANGANUI. March 17. The Government is giving =£36 in prizes for a match for returned members of New Zealand contingents at the Rifle Association’s meeting and is anxious to see large entries. There seems to be some misunderstanding, judging by the entries so far received. No entrance fee is demanded and all returned members can obtain a free pass from district commanding officers. Mr Stewart, of the firm of Stewart and Penn, electrical engineers, of Auckland, has returned from his visit to Te Eeinga Waterfall, 30 miles from Gisborne. He considers that there is no engineering difficulty in the way of harnessing it, and that there would be an abundant supply for Gisborne, which would be able to compete for all practical purposes with any motor power at present in use._ Ho will furnish a report with estimates in a month’s time.
