THE CONINGHAM CASE

(Received March 15, 10.29 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 15. In the Coningham divorce case to-day. Cardinal Moran was examined at length. A letter dated in November last from die Cardinal to Dean O'Hara was put in as evidence. In it the writer said lie it a matter of duty to convey in an official manner his siucerest condolence with the Doan in Lie terrible ordeal of the persecution to which he was being subjected. After a tribute to the magnificent success of Dean O’Haran’s ministry, the letter says:—“You may rest assured that this attempt of Satan will be discomfited and all these present trials will only add to the splendour of religion amongst us. Our Devine Master permits present persecution as a lesson to bear His cross faithfully whilst looking solely to Heaven for reward. Should you require any material aid in your defence against this malicious conspiracy }ou may draw on my account for any suin' you may require.”
