SUTHERLAND DISQUALIFIED. . PBESS ASSOCIATION. * INVERCARGILL, March 13'. At the autumn race- meeting of the Cycling Club, which was held to-day in perfect weather, there was an attendance of only seven hundred. There can be no doubt the sport Roes not attract here now. The Half-mile was won by Jas. Butler (105yds) in Imih 2sec. The Two-mile Wheel Race was yon by George Sutherland from scratch,' A. R. Barker. A. Hasten and A. Ralston following in that order. ; Time, 4min 40sec. The Mile Scratch was won by Sutherland, Barker 2, Ralston 3. Connell and Husten were the other starters. The referee fixed the limit at 2min 15sec, and the entrants refused to ride, the public siding with them. The time was then made 2min 20sec. The men doubted their ability to do it, but said they would ride. After a good race, the time made was 2min 23 3-ssec. and the prize money was withheld. The Threemile Handicap was won by Barker (85yds). Connell (90yds) 2, Ralston (llOyds). 3. Time, 7min 26 2-ssec. The Five-mile Handicap resulted—Ralston (130yds), 1; Connell (130yds), 2; Husten (230yds), 3. Sutherland did not start. Won by two inches in 13min 27 2-sseo. In connection with the-Wheel Race, Sutherland considers he is badly treated by the prize money being withheld for being a couple of seconds over the maximum, while the race was one of the best of the day. Sutherland was disqualified _ for a fortnight for saying something which an official objected to, but which he jays was merely pleasantry- He and other riders complain- of being spoken to in an ob- • jectionable -manner.
