BANDS CONGEST.

PRESS ASSOCIATION. WANGANUI, March 13. The Band Contest was continued this morning. There were seven competitors for the prize for E-flat basses, which was won by T. Gray, of Wanganui, with 82 points, F. Signal, also of Wanganui, scoring 76, and S. Geary, of Petone, 70. In the B-flat basses there were three competitors, C. Aldridge, of Masterton. being first, with 64 points, E. Holden'(Palmerston), 61, and S. Geary (Petone), 55, being second and third. In trombones T. Gray, Wanganui, was first with 79 points. H. Lamb, Wanganui, scored 74; G. Hutchison, Masterton, 69; F. Odling, Petone, 68; F. Beddie, Jupp's Band, 66; J, Henry, Woodville, 54. The test piece “j Puritani” was played in the evening.
