Tho British have ve-occupicd Marcusherg, on the Klerksdorp railway, twenty miles west of Johannesburg. Tho last nows of the First, Second and 'Third New Zealand Contingents which had, up to Januarydast, been opera! ing with Major-General Paget’s column r.n the Delagoa Bay Railway, was that they had reached Naauwpoort. This Las been interpreted to mean that they had been withdrawn to the place of that name in Cape Colony, near*the Orange River, to assist in “checking Do Wet.” ' This is most improbable, for tho distance to be traversed is enormous. Our men are, there is little doubt, still in tho Transvaal, the “Naauwpoort” ■referred, to being in all probability a place hearing that name twenty-one miles north-east of Johannesburg. SEVENTH "CONTINGENT. A mounted parade and foot drill were held at the Newtown Park camp yesterday, after which the mounted men were, taken out on the sandhills at Miramar* and exercised under Liout.
