—«■ The Customs returns for yesterday amounted to £1953 os Bd. Messrs F. H. Wood and Sons, of Greytown, .held a sale on Monday of property, under instructions from the Registrar'of the Supreme Court, at the request of tho mortgagee, in the estate of the late Richard Williams. The property was put up in two lots, the first being 1949 acres and 20 perches, at Kahutara. This was purchased by -~r W. O. Williams at £6OOO. Rot.2 comprised 890 acres 3 roods and 29 1-10th perches, at Kaiwniwai. This was also carohasod at £7OOO by Mr W. 0. Williams. Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams, report on their Johnsonville sale:—Fat oattle, equal to requirements, were generally of good quality, though ages and weight varied considerably. Bidding was moderate. Ox beef, large and prime, made 20s; smaller .bullocks, 21s to 22s.per 1001 b; small green steers. £7 12s Gd ; fat bullocks, £8 to £9 12s 6d. Sheep, in small numbers, satisfied the demand. An easier tone prevailed, prices realised representing a decline of about Gd to Is per bead on recent prices. Prime and heavy ewes. 14s; fat ewes, 12s 9d to 13s Id.
