LABOUR DISPUTE
THE DIFFICULTY AT WAIHI. PKB3B ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, March 12. A monster meeting of miners was held at Waihi re the mining dispute. The scale and conditions of labour as sent to the companies were received and passed unanimously. The following propositions were unanimously passed(l) That the offer of Mr Barry to reinstate the men if the dispute is dropped be not entertained; (2) that none of the men return to work unless all the men discharged for their connection with the union be reinstated; (3) that all companies in the Waihi district as notified be cited before the Conciliation Board in order to adopt the scale passed by the Thames executive. The result of the ballot of the Miners’ Union as to . whether the Conciliation Board will sit or not was—7oS in favour, 16 against and 3 informal.
