Mr Benjamin Harrison, who was President of the United States from 1889 to 1893, is suffering from serious illness. His condition is regarded as critical. LORD KIMBERLEY. LONDON, March 11. Lord Kimberley, leader of the Liberal party in the House of Lords: who has been in a critical state of health, is improving. A VALUABLE OPAL. LONDON, March 11. A Queensland opal, reported to be •worth £50,000, is being exhibited at the Victorian Agency-General. It is stated that the owner intends to offer it to the King as a contribution to bis regalia in honour of the establishment of the Australian Commonwealth. HEAVY BAIN IN QUEENSLAND. The steamer Kinfauns Castle, belonging to the Union Castle Line, running to South Africa; is ashore at the Needles, Isle of Wight.
