DAIRY FACTORY FOR MASTERTON.
A meeting was held at Mastcrlon on Saturday in connection with the formation of a dairy company. There was a fair attendance, find Air A. AV. Hogg M.H.R., was voted to the chair. Air J. A. Renal I road a report which stated : —“ The promoters report having visited several farmers, and tho promises of support arc. so far, highly satisfactory. The total mnnbar of cows from which milk haa been .promised amounts to 310. Now, while a start can very well be mado with 310 cows, it is plain to everyone that the financial support promised is altogether insufficient. Small farmers can ill afford to invest their capital outside of their farms, and as the benefit which a co-oporat.-ve dairy company will confer on the district is not confined to the farmers, it is only fair to invite the residents generally to give the venture that -amount of support that will urn mint the promoters in going in .with the project. It is intended to register Hie company with a nominal capital of £2OOO, in .400 shakes . of £5 each. Before .proceeding with the ; registration of the company, at least i 200 shares must be subscribed. There is every prospect cf suppliers taking up one hundred shares:, and tho public of | Mnsterton will bo asked to take up an equal number, which will net carry a larger percentage than 8 per cent., or less than -5 per cent., being guaranteed that amount by tho suppliers. The pay- ( incuts will bo made easy; the deposit on application being but ns per share, and on allotment l'os, and 10a calls at i intervals not ol’leucr Gum three months. I Them will, thus bo left :'a hand twelve ‘ hundred shares for milk-suppliers, who may desire to oome into the company ' at a. later stage.” lb was decided to 1 form a company, and Unit it be called ; the Mastcrton Co-operative Dairy Factory Company, Limited. Tho following provisional directors ; wore dec I ml: Messrs J. .A. Rena 11, T. ’ E. Chamberlain, ,K. M. Bannister, J. - Savage, W. H. Bnick, G. Sykes and J. ■ Croclman. 1
