EVIDENCE OF THE ENGINEER-IN-CHIEF.
SYDNEY, March 9. At the inquest on the Sydenham railway accident, the Engineer-in-Chief, in reply to the contention that the class of engine which was derailed was dangerous, said that eighteen of these engines in the service were responsible for eight derailments, each derailment representing 643,000 miles they had rim.
