Now that another attempt is to he made next year to bring back the “America Cup” to England, it is worth while to remark upon the early start which American yachtsmen take- are no less than 20 New York boys who have cultivated high professional skill both as builders and sailors of tiny yachts, ranging from Gin. to 6ft. in length. Several New York houses find profitable business in furnishing them with all the supplies essential to the building and rigging of these miniatures of the noted big boats. They hold their regattas on the lakes of the parks, and the builders of winning boats are sure of profitable customers. A scientist has demonstrated that a snail can creep 330 ft. between sunrise and sunset.
