FOOTBALL.

WELLINGTON CLUB; The annual general meeting of members of the Wellington. Football Club was held at the Trocadero last evening. There were about fifty members present. Mr A. T. Bate (president) occupied the chair. The report and balance-sheet (a precis of which appeared in yesterday’s “New Zealand Times”) was adopted;on the motion of the chairman, who took the opportunity of congratulating members on the satisfactory financial position of the club. The following ilew members were elected;: —F. Taylor, A. Bayfield, J. Hamilton, A. C. Norris, J. Walsh, R. M. Falconer, J. Davis, H. White, F. Mathews, A. Wilson, O. Jago, S. Jago, A. Breadbent and J. Carnadhau. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr A. T. Bate (reelected); vice-presidents, Messrs J. P. Firth. P. P. Webb, T. S. Ronaldson, J. E. Smith, G. C. Fache (re-elected), N. Galbraith and G. H. Bethune; captain, Mx“ V.' R. Meredith (re-elected); hen treasurer, Mr O. Kember; hen secretary, Mr O. Bird; Management Committee, Messrs B. Gallagher, R. D, Macdonald, J. Murray, W. J. Levexsedge (re-elected), F. T. Row, R. A. Gray and J. G. Stevens; Match Committee, Messrs V. R. Meredith, B. Gallagher (re-elected) and F. T. Row; delegates to Wellington Rugby Football Union, Messrs G. O. Fache, J". Murray (reelected), V. R. Meredith; hou auditor, Mr W. E. Rawson.

Mr O. Ray Palliser, delegate of the club to the English Rugby Football Union, wrote forwarding receipts for the club’s subscription and acknowledging receipt of the club’s intention to discontinue subscription to the union. A letter' was received frtom Mr A. B. Pownall offering a trophy for the best all-round player in the first fifteen during the forthcoming season. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Pownall, also to the retiring officers and the chairman. ’ j ' ORIENTAL CLUB. Thero was a large attendance of members of the Oriental Club at tbs annual meeting of the club last night. The report and balance-sheet (the latter showing a credit balance of £6 7s 3d, despite £32 12s 6d outstanding in members’ subscriptions) wore read and adopted, on the. motion of the president (Mr G. A. Hill), who briefly congratulated the club; on its excellent showing in last season’s football. ' ' Messrs Thomas Purdy, W. J. Symons, I J., Emus, H. B. J&opflti**', 35, J. Saw.

Maurice Archer, W. Tinney, L. B. Barber, Ernest E. Woon, J. M»lntosh, TLambert, S. Dempsey, James Hewett and A. E. Busch were, elected, members. A set of new rules was adopted for the future governance qf the club. Provisions were made in them for the registration of the club under the Unclassified Societies Act, and also for the acquirement of a club gymnasium. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Wylie for his services in drafting the rules. The club’s delegates to the Busby Union were instructed to vote against cup matches being played on the Kia Ora grounds. It was decided to open the practice season on Saturday next, in view of ihe fact that the club is to' play ah outside match on Easter Monday. Trophies were last night promised to the club as follows:—Best forward first fifteen, Mr W. Nimmo; best back first fifteen, Air W. Woon; best all-round man second fifteen. Air W.- Gibson; best all-round man third fifteen, Mr G. A. Hill; best all-round man fourth fifteen. Air W. Woon; most regular attendant at gymnasium, Air G. A. Hill; placekicking competition, Air L. B. Jordan. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Air G. A. Hill (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs W. B. Beeves, W. Nimmo, L. B. Jordan (re-elected), A. AI. Samuel, J. Curtis and J. H. Price; captain, Air E. Vvylio; vice-captain, Air B. Burns; secretary, Mr Woon (re-elected); treasurer, Air A. Wylie; committee, Messrs W. Skilton, W- Young, AI. Dixon, G. AlcKay and W. Gibson; match committee, Messrs W. Wcon and W. Young and the captain; delegates to the Bugby Union, Messrs W. Nimmo, E. Wylie and L. 3. Jordan; auditors, Messrs G. Wilkes and W. Evans; trustees, Alessrs G. A. Hill and L. B. Jordan.
