EVENING ENTERTAINMENTS

The Pepper’s Ghost Company repeated its performance! of “The Flying Dutchman” at the Opera House last night, in the presence of a moderate house. The company has been strengthened by the addition of those well-known variety artists Miss Lucy Fraser and Mr Martyn. Hagan, as well as some others. _ The performance will be repeated tevnight. Good houses continue to attend the performances of the Dix Gaiety Company at the Theatre Royal. To-night the "marvellous Tylers will join the company, and introduce a set of gyrations alleged to bs! absolutely new to Wellington.

The Fuller Bijou Company performed at the Choral Hall to a good house last night. Miss Katie Lynn again earned double encores by her singing of “Scenes that are Brightest” and “Mary of Argyle,” while Mr Fred. Bluett’s less classical contributions were encored to the fourth, degree. At the Carlton Hall, Marion street, tiie Carlton Musical and Dramatic Club last night gave an entertainment in aid of the fund being raised for the benefit of Mrs Russell, a widow who has been left in destitute circumstances, laere was a good attendance, and a fair sum is likely to he realised from the entertainment. E. Burton;plantation ditty, “Uncle Ned,” Master Brooks; ballad, “Keep the Home together,” Mrs Gardiner; ballad, “I’ll Await, My Love,” Mr Hunt; end song, “I’m Not Particular,” Mr L. Brooks; ballad, “Go Sleep, Ma Honey,” Miss Darling; end song, “The Oat Came Back, Mr W. Burton; ballad, “In Days of Yore,” Miss Bono; ballad', “Good-bye, Daddv.” Master Burton; end song, “Lump of Sweetness,” Mr C. Thompson; finale, “The Imperial Bugler.” Part 2 Trio, Mrs Bone, Miss Bono, Mr Kelly; bono solo, Mr C. Thompson; song, “The La>t Muster,” Miss Chalker; song,“While London Sleeps,” Mr Jones; musical sketch, “Very Suspicious,” Mrs Bono and Mr G. Thompson; song, “When Other Lips ” Mrs Gardiner; comic song, “Kindness Rewarded,” Mr L. Brooks. The programmel concluded with a farce. The first rehearsal by the Orchestral Society of Mr Maughan Barnett’s Jubilee Ode will be held in St. Johns Schoolroom on Thursday evening, wh%n all who have signified their willingness to assist are requested to attend. Miss Kate Connell, who has made a successful concert tour of several of the West Coast towns, will give a farewell concert at ther" Opera House on Thursday, 14th inst.
