applications would only bo approved provided that the sections will be worked in their own interests, and not for

tiio benefit of anyone else, and that the applicants comply with the conditions of the Act.

Miss E. Walter was given leave to relet section 77, Palilatua. With reference to Mr Batley’-s application for Awaua section 2a. No 2a block, it was resolved to defer dealing with it in the meantime, and advise Mr Bailey and other applicants that it is not available for selection.

On the motion of Mr Hogg it was >:e, cidod to ask the head office whether the proposed legislation is likely to bo passed to enable the disposal of sections 8 and 12, block 14. Mangabao, and intimating that otherwise the hind .should ' be offered for selection without de lay. It was resolved to offer sections 1, 3,4, 7,8, 10 and 31, Paklhikura Village, for sale at auction for cash, and to obtain tli© chief ranger's report as to the disposal of 12, 13, and 14.

It was resolved to re-opeu sections 1, 3. 5,6, and 10, Richardson Village, for lease.

Licenses for wood splitting on see* tion 48, block 7, Pobaiigina, were ordered to' bo issued to J. F. Lone and F. Wagstaff. It was resolved to dispose of sections 2!>a and 29c, block 10, Mount Cerberus. The Commissioner submitted a schedule of rangers’ renarts sbowincr i.jac out of 76 holdings 65 selectors had complied with the conditions of their lenses and 11 were defaulters.—Approved. _W. T. Douglas’s application for sections 292 and part 3 of 281, block 10, Wainuioru, was approved. The chief ranger was ordered to report on the application of the Tiiibape Village settlers to bo allowed to increase their holdings. On the application of IT. P. TmuiioI'M.gi, it was resolved, if practicable, fo reduce the rental of the Hurupai Block to 3d per acre.

0. P. Macartney was given exemption from residence of section 34, block 14, Hautapu, during Lis absence in South Africa.

The Commissioner submitted a ruling of the Crown Solicitor as to whether J. Taplin could be considered a tenant of the Langdale estate in terms' of sectjou 67 of the L3,nd for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900, from which it appeared that he was a tenant.
