EVENING ENTERTAINMENTS

Charles Dickens’s exquisite “ Christmas Carol” was again reproduced at the Opera House last night by Aortacote’s “ Pepper’s Ghost ” Company. The avaricious Scrooge and the blithesome Bob Crachet, whose- doings have delighted thousands in' times gone by, kept up their reputations last night. The Christmas feast of Bob Crachet and his family was-greeted hy‘ the audience with demonstrative approval, which increased as the better feelings of Scrooge led his astral form to' take part in the rejoicings.- The spectral views incidental to the piece were . capably introduced, and the choruses and solos were all given in a creditable manner. The audience that assembled at the Choral Hall last night for the performance of the Fuller, Bijou Company, was an enthusiastic one. The myrioramic views which w T ere put on to illustrate the song of Miss Katie Lynn were very fine, and the song was very excellently rendered. Mr Fred Bluett had to repeat each of his items. The contributions of the remainder of the company to the programme were all freely ap-

plauded. . The Dix Gaiety Company performed to a fairly large house at the Theatre i Royal hist night. The Patterson Bros, again evoked hearty applause by their horizontal bar feats. Miss Lenton received hearty recalls for her vocal items, and similar compliments were * paid to Little Eileen Boyd and Mr Arthur Hahn. The vagaries of Mr Trank Clark provoked great merriment.
