COMPETITION IN COMMERCE
SPEECH BY LORD ROSEBERY. LONDON, January 17. The,Earl,of Rosebery, at-a meeting of the Wolverhampton Chamber of commerce, discussed the question cf commercial contests in the twentieth century. Our commercial classes required educating scientifically from top to bottom n: order that they may fairly compete witn the commercial classes of Germany, Japan, and America. His Lordship urged that every Chamber should! appoint travelling trade scholarships. (Received January 18, 11.9 p.m.) LONDON, January 18. The Hon Joseph’ Chamberlain, in the course of a speech, said he hoped Birmingham University would develop: a Research. Institute and a Faculty of Commerce. He insisted that Britain’s existence as a great trading and industrial nation depended on a thorough scientific tratment of commercial education.. -
