A TERRIBLE CONFESSION. (Received November 15, 11 p.m.) MELBOURNE, November 15. •With reference to the Beulah West tragedy, in. .which an old man named Hugh Laverty was murdered, it appears that the victim’s .throat was cut. The confession of the man Gluck points to his surtering from dementia. Ho states that he was sleeping in the passage adjoining the victims room, and during the night he found himselt lying alongside the bod of Laverty, whom he had killed, using an axe and a razor for the purpose. He did not know when ho committed the deed. He had recently been drinking, and suffering from insomnia.
