DIX’S GAIETY COMPANY
The end-of-the-wcek change of prbgramme at tne Exchange Hall is maintained by the management of Dixs Gaiety Company with regularity, arid never fails to attract a full house. On Saturday night the various performers appeared in new items, and a numerous audience found much to applaud and laugh at in their contributions. The new serio-comic artist, petite Miss Olive Lenton, is an undoubted favourite, her brightness and grace being very fascinating. Her programme numbers on Saturday night were “The Gordon High-landeiv’t-a good-humoured sally at the .soldiers,,“and “What do I Care?” an attractive song and dance. Mr James 0. Bain gave his usual half-hour of, mirthful ditties and patter - , and , was j of course called upon to repeat his latest hit, “Biscuits,”- the tune arid words of which seem to appeal irresistibly to the aver-'
age man and woman. As a whistler, ME.’Jack Steele has both ' skill and , vigour, as he demonstrated in “ The Whistling Wife” and “I Saw Him Home.” The Staunton Sjisjters scored their customary -success in 1 the song anddance *f Right (Side' Up, * Witif- Care.” and the little Downards were interesting jiv, the: action duct ,' “ Round 1 the Town.” , Ballads. were sung hy; Miss Lulu-' Ze.sch - and Mr Charles Howard) comic effusions by Mr Johnny Collins, Mr Bob Hall and Mr Charles -Hugo, and. Ethel,.. trie'- young - gymnast; once again" won'-applause' by. her" remarkable feats of- contortion. Professor Bernard’s dogs, appeared with moderate success, and a r.cugh. and; tmHble tarce entiled the entertainment. New. attractions ! afei announced for .this week. i , , 1 . ' . ■ I - I FULLER’S BIJOU COMPANY. The usual -change of programme at? traded an overflowing audience to the Choral Hall on Saturday night, where Fuller's-'Bijou Variety Company is at present., appearing with such suecess. In; addition to the popular Lcslioßros., Mr Jphu Tudor and Mr Will Stevens, ini new songs and dances, the company was strengthened by a new artiste. Miss Kate Lynn, a pleasing soprano from the Old Country, who made a successful debut before a Wellington,. audience. Miss .MabeUSlaic,' Miss Lillie Smith, Miss' itpsa'i Andrews,. Mr Slibidon Kindly and Mr Arthur Elliott took-part, in a new musical sketch', their elf bits jlioing greeted with much applause, encores being frequent. ■ The ’ bill will be repeated' to-uight. : MR CLIFFORD WALKER.
