(Received January 24, 0.55 a.m.) LONDON, January 23/ Mr Chamberlain is sending Mr Basil Thompson, who, under Sir John Thurston, w-as for some years connected with the Government of the Islands, out to Tonga to explain the provisions of the Anglo-German Convention. Mr Thomas Aitken, on© of the members of the London Edinburgh Shipping Company, has donated £40,000 to the funds of the’ Edinburgh Infirmary. (- MELBOURNE, January 23.
Mr A. Dcakm,.who has been selected by the Victorian Government as: a delegate to the Imperial Parliament for the purpose of explaining the provisions of the Commonwealth Bill, has sailed for England. On arrival at Albany he will bo advised of the decision arrived at by the Premiers’ Conference with regard to the appointment of other Federal delegates. . ‘
