PUBLIC HOLIDAY. BOISTEROUS WEATHER, A strong north-wester, blowing nth varying force. made the anniversary of Wellington’.', foundation tho reverse of pleasant, A close holiday was, as usual, observed in the city. Many persons braved the journey across tho harbour to Day's Bay, and resorts reached by road and rail were also well patronised. Persons who remained .in town found the dust very disagreeable, and the impressions mado on visitors within our gates cannot nave been of a favourable character. In the evening there were large audiences at tho Opera. House and other places of entertainment.
