, NOTTINGHAM MATCH. , ■ SUSPENDED THROUGH RAIN. LONDON, Monday. The match between the Australian cricketers and the Nottinghamshire eleven was begun to-day at the Trer.tfaridgo ground, Nottingham, but was interrupted b\‘ rain at an early stage. The weather was unsettled, the wicket soft, and the attendance of the public small. Tho county team consists of A. Shrewsbury, W. Gunn, J. A. Dixon, A. 0. Jones, W. Attewell, J.. Gunn, T. Wass, P. Mason, T. Oates, Hardstaff, andi Goodacre.

Australia’s players for the match are Darling, Gregory, Irodale, Kelly, Howell, Noble, Trumpet-, McLeod, Trurablc, Laver and Jones. The county team lost the toss', and were sent to the wickets, but owing ;o the increasing gloominess of the -weather it was deemed advisable to suspend play, after one wicket had fallen for 51 runs. Torrents of rain afterwards fell, making it necessary to abandon the game for the day. The score was as follows : NOTTINGHAM—First Innings. A. 0. Briggs, the Lancashire, bowler, has practically recovered from the effects of the fits with which he was seized at Leeds last week. Dr Laver, a brother .of the Victorian player, has presented each member of the Australian team with a watch made of Australian gold.
