GERMAN AGGRESSION IN FOKIEN. JAPAN TO FORCIBLY RESIST IT. (Received May 21, 5 p.m.) TOKIO, Saturday. The Government' of Japan, is suspicious that Germany is trying to acquire Kulungsu, a district on the mainland, opposite Amoy. Japan has announced that she is prepared to forcibly resist any attempt by the European Powers to acquire Fokien or any of its littoral. [Fokien is a maritime province ol China, opposite the island of Formosa, which lies 150 miles to the east. This island came into prominence during the Chino-Japancse war, and was one of tlu spoils taken from the vanquished Chinese in 1890. It is a valuable acquisition to Japan on account of, its natural wea.— and its proximity to China. Amoy is an island, nine miles by seven, containing half a million of people, on uie coast of Fokien, arid quite close to the mainland.
