THE UNIVERSITY SENATE.
PRESS ASSOCIATION. Christchurch, Tuesday. At the sitting of the University Senate this morning the Chancellor announced that the Senate examiner for the Bowen prize for next year would ho the Rev J. Paterson. The subject for the Bowen prize for 1901 would be “The Indian. Mutiny of 1857 : its came and results." The examiners for the Macmillan Brown prize will be Mr W. E. Milne; M.A., Professor Wall, M.A., and Mr Louis Cohen, M.A.; the subject: “ Pre-historic Man." ■ It was decided that the next annual session will be held in Wellington. , At a meeting of the University Senate this 'afternoon, the : following suggestions of Professor Dale wore brought up for cohaiderationThat in examinations .for junior scholarships and for matriculation it is desirable that there should be a rearrangement of papers in Latin and English. The! suggestions were adopted, and referred to the StaUiw-s Revision,Committer, with ,tha instruction that- in Latin and ; English junior scholarship . and matriculation papers should 'be kept distinct.
